A Tribute to a bad builder

This site was started as a warning to others who are building houses. After experiencing all that I have experienced I felt it would be negligent to allow our builder to carry on with his activities that in my opinion are criminal without a warning.

Please, if Iain, the criminal builder, owes you money talk to the Dept of Justice, send me your story I will post it. The more information that gets out there on Iain the better the chances he will end up on TV trying to lie his way out of the mess he has made.

If you are reading this as a potential customer of Iain's be warned. Iain will tell you I am crazy and not to be trusted. Feel free to contact me and I can provide you with several references that will agree with my assessment of Iain. If anyone has a better picture of Iain please forward it to me. I think he should be known by face as well as name. Also if you want to contribute to the site I will gladly post things, as long as they are documented and lacking profanity.

Make sure you say hi from Kevin should you run across Iain. If you live in Edenwold or Balgonie fell free to post a sign directing people to this website, feel free to forward the link on to your friends.

If you were screwed by a different builder fel free to contact me. I will not post anything unless you have documentation. Once I see some documentation I will contact the builder and give them the chance to defend themselves, just as I did with Iain.

A warning to potential home renovators out there. With the recent federal budget announcement there will be an increase in people doing upgrades to their homes. People like Iain are out there waiting for you. Make sure you pay as little as you can up front, the home builders lien act protects the tradespeople working on your home, you don't pay them, they can lien your house. If you pay them and they walk away you are on your own to hire a lawyer, sue and maybe get something.

Put as little down as you can and holdback 10% of the total bill for 40 days after completion to make sure they paid everyone, check for liens before you pay out the final amount. A good, "best effort, least cost" method for checking for liens is to make sure ISC has your correct address before you start the process. www.isc.caOpen in a new window go to contact us.

If you are someone who is currently in the process of sueing Iain please send me an e-mail. I might have a proposition for you. I would also like to post the total amount which Iain is being sued for, providing you want to share that info.
